There are 3 main options of relocation in Mexico:
- If your monthly income is more than $2,000, you need to prove that you have had such income for the last six months, the employer’s confirmation letter, then you can relocate to Mexico and get a temporary residency (could be up to 4 years).
- Work visa if you are officially employed in a Mexican company or in a subsidiary company of another country.
- Come as a tourist and work remotely – you can stay in Mexico for max. 180 days (the period of your stay will be finalized by the border officer and mentioned in your migration form).
4 Steps for the personal relocation:
- Once you decide which option suits you, please, apply for the visa. You will find more information on how to apply for a Temporary Resident Visa or Work Visa in Visa or Residence document.
- Buy tickets or receive them from your company. Make sure you don't need any extra visa or documents if you have a stopover during the flight.
- Book a hotel or apartment, or receive booking information from your company if they cover the rental. Print the booking confirmation. You find more information about the rental in the House Rental document.
- When your visa is ready prepare all the necessary documents:
- The passport that is valid for at least the next six months.
- Visa (tourist, resident or work one).
- Printed apartment/hotel rental confirmation.
- Printed Bank Statement.
- Printed invitation from the company.
- Printed flight details, flight back (for tourists option).
- Any other necessary documents for the flight.
With all these documents you will enter Mexico.
